Islam came to explain and to prescribe proper conduct and rulings which elevate the physical relationship between husband and wife from the level of mere bestial pleasure and physical desire. Islam connects it to a righteous intention, supplications (Adhkaar) and proper conduct which lifts it up to the level of worship for which the Muslim will be rewarded.
Concerning sexual relations, Islam brought the most perfect guidance, whereby health may be preserved and people may find pleasure and enjoyment, and it may fulfill the purpose for which it was created, because sex was created for three basic purposes:
Among its benefits is that it helps to lower the gaze, brings self-control, enables one to keep away from haraam things, and achieves all of these things for the woman too. It brings benefit to a man with regard to this world and the Hereafter, and benefits the woman too. 1, Accept Sex as a Healthy and Halaal Part of Life
Allah (SWT) created humans with sexual desires, and in Islam, there is nothing shameful about that. Islam just puts guidelines for us to follow in regards to whom and when we can fulfill our sexual desires. However, the actual act of sex is NOT wrong. To the contrary, sex, when done the Halaal way, is a blessing from Allah (SWT).
Intercourse Is Not a Must in the First Night
There should be no expectations other than to enjoy each other’s company and to become comfortable being intimate with one another.
It Doesn’t Have to Hurt
Intercourse involving penetration may may cause a little pain or pressure but overall it should be pleasurable, if excessive pain is experienced more foreplay or lubrication may be required.
You Won’t Necessarily Bleed
Intercourse may cause some bleeding due to the tearing the hymen tissues in the vagina.
Bleeding does not determine Virginity
Bleeding caused due to the tearing of the Hymnal tissues, should not be used to determine if your spouse is a virgin or not. Not all women will bleed, as the tearing of the Hymnal tissues can also be caused by physical activity, masturbation etc and should not be used to determined if one is a virgin or not.
Never Skip Foreplay
Never skip to the main event!
Foreplay is essential, the more sexual behaviors you engage in prior to sex (kissing, touching…etc) makes intercourse more pleasurable and reaching orgasm easier. To avoid pain, the vaginal canal requires to be aroused, which opens to allow for penetration, foreplay can also help the husband to achieve a stronger erection.
Lube Can Make Everything Better
Always use lube where possible, as lube will reduce any friction leading to pain. Avoid using oil-based lubes as they can weaken latex condoms making them less effective, use water based or silicone based lubes instead.
Sexual Positions
There are no restrictions relating to the basic coital potions, ‘basic coital positions’ denotes the positions known as the man above, face to face, woman above face to face; side position, face to face; rear-entry position in which the husband penetrates the vagina from the rear. Actually, the Shariah has left it on the husband and the wife to explore and experiment as they wish.
However, it is Makruh to adopt a standing position, or to face the Qiblah, It is advisable to refrain from the acrobatic positions, or positions which may cause harm.
Remember, the basic rule is mutual pleasure and flexibility. If one partner does not like a particular position, then the other should yield to his or her feelings.
